To apply for a Chinese business visa, follow the requirements for the tourist visa and provide a few invitation letters. You’ll need an invitation letter from your company in China. The Chinese company letter must have a seal. A sealed letter is like a special stamp of their business’s unique seal that is registered with the authorities in China.

In addition to the Chinese company letter, you’ll need a letter from your company in America with the same name, travel dates, and situation. They can be emailed copies and don’t have to be the originals.

Special Circumstances and Requirements

If you have ever been to China or been issued a Chinese visa in the past…

You will need to provide a copy of the visa and the information page for the passport in which it was issued.

Applicants who previously held Chinese nationality…

When applying for a Chinese visa, applicants must submit their physical Chinese passport (if this is their first time applying) to the Embassy.

If you no longer have it, you usually provide a letter stating why you cannot. For example, the passport may have been lost or destroyed. They will sometimes waive this requirement.

If you are an Applicant with dual nationality…

You must provide a photocopy of their foreign passport’s information page.

How Long Will My Chinese Visa Last?

The time you’ll be granted to stay in China depends on several factors. All approved Americans will automatically be given a 10-year multiple-entry visa, allowing them to stay 90 days at a time.

The applicant may be denied or granted less time for a few reasons.

1. The Occupation of the Applicant

While these criteria may not be certain, authorities may grant or deny less time to journalists, artists, military personnel, or law enforcement officers.

2. Citizenship

Keep in mind that China may not allow citizens of a country it has poor diplomatic relations with.

3. Travels

You may have recently traveled to specific countries. We’ve found that Middle Eastern countries and France tend to be big ones.

4. Losing a Previous Chinese Visa

Another reason they may not issue you a 10-year visa because you lost a previous Chinese visa.
